Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom: Release date moved

Aquaman will be back in theaters sooner than expected. Wednesday the Warner Bros. moved the release date by Aquaman and the Lost Realm from the A.Danticipating the sequel directed by James Wan compared to the previously announced date of December 25th. Aquaman 2 hits theaters nearly a week early on December 20, switching from Christmas Day Monday to a midweek release.

Warner Bros. previously set Aquaman and the Lost Realm for December 16, 2022, before pushing the film back to March 17, 2023. The date was eventually given to the DC sequel by WB and New Line, Shazam! Fury of the Godswhile Lost Kingdom has been pushed to December 2023, coming five years after the first Aquaman.

Wan directs sequel written by David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrickscreenwriter of Aquaman, from a story by Wan, Thomas Pa’a Sibbett and Momoa.

In The Lost Kingdom, an ancient power forces Arthur and Orm into an uneasy alliance to protect Atlantis, and the world, from irreversible devastation.

“I have so much invested in this film,” Momoa said of the Aquaman sequel during last year’s CinemaCon. “I love this character and what he represents. We wanted to visit all these different new realms and meet all these interesting characters.” According to Wan, the second film will take underwater action “to the next level.”

Aquaman and the Lost Realm will be released in theaters on December 20.
