Aquaman and the lost kingdom

Jason Momoa, during a recent interview, once again addressed his situation within the DCU, stating that the success of Aquaman and the lost kingdom will make the superhero a fundamental presence in the new Universe.

Jason Momoa – historical face of Aquaman in the former DCEU – is back to talking about his personal situation after the arrival of James Gunn and Peter Safran at DC Studios, revealing himself confident about his future in the franchise. In fact, the star, whose role was rumored to change – some of his statements hinted that she would play a new character, probably Lobo -, in fact aired the hypothesis of return to play Aquamanwhich – always according to the actor – will be part of the renewed DC Universe.

Momoa, during an interview given to Total Filmthen explained that Aquaman will continue to have a role in the DC Universenow led by Studios co-CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran:

I absolutely think Aquaman will be involved in the DCU. There is none greater than Aquaman. Also, I hope people are excited to see the new movie. I really enjoy doing comedy and there are some really funny sequences in the film, which I play with Patrick Wilson. I love it, we had a lot of fun working together, it’s like we were brothers. Some great things happen in this second chapter of Aquaman.

According to the actor, therefore, Aquaman and the lost kingdom – Arthur Curry’s second solo adventure, waiting at the cinema for 25th December – will convince the audience to the point of make the presence of the character essential in the new DC Universe. Gunn and Safran, moreover, have repeatedly reiterated that Henry Cavill will not return as Superman, while the future of Gal Gadot\Wonder Woman still seems uncertain. The two CEOs, however, have never openly addressed the fate of Aquaman or Jason Momoa, not including them in the announced ten-year plan but reserving the right to decide after the film’s release. Momoa then met with Gunn and Safran last January, probably to re-discuss the terms of his deal with Warner Bros. What is currently certain is that Aquman and the lost kingdom is one of four “old administration” films that have been kept in theatrical release – along with The Flash, Blue Beetle And Shazam! Fury of the Gods, currently in cinemas. At the moment, therefore, all that remains is to wait for further updates. In the meantime, Jason Momoa will be in cinemas from next May 18, in Fast X – new chapter in the prolific franchise Fast & Furious.
