Ashley Graham just stepped out in a denim print dress to attend Gigi Hadid’s Guest In Residence collaboration with LuisaViaRoma in Milan, and she’s channeling *basic* Britney Spears Y2K vibes.
The look was, well, chic, with thick metal buttons above the chest (possibly from the original jeans?!?!), sewn together with numerous pieces of denim. Ashley completed the look with a blue-accented cat eye, glossy lips, and loose, glam waves. Paired with gold peep-toes and silver hoops, it gave off a serious vibe.
The dress was very reminiscent of Britney Spears’ 2001 denim dress, which definitely made fashion history. For those needing a refresher, Britney famously wore a Kurt and Bart patchwork dress to the American Music Awards, arriving alongside Justin Timberlake, who completed the look in a matching Canadian tuxedo. What. Moment.
And this isn’t the first time a celebrity has paid homage to the pop princess’s iconic image. Just last year, Dua took to her Instagram in a fitted denim dress from Blumarine’s spring/summer 2023 collection, captioning it: “Show me 93 baby!!!!!! 🥶.”
And back in 2014, Katy Perry and Riff Raff hit the red carpet at the MTV Video Music Awards wearing a matching his/hers denim jumpsuit that blew Britney and Justin’s minds.
Katy tweeted about the custom Versace look: “@Britneyspears I made the best impression, hope you like it!”
To which Britney responded, “@katyperry Just when I thought the denim dress was a thing of the past… you’re bringing it back! You looked amazing today bb ;)”
