Since vaccines are a protective shield for the population, the entity’s Ministry of Health reports that Baja California has a permanent universal vaccination program that works to maintain vaccination coverage of citizens, starting with newborns, girls, boys and adolescents start.
Health Minister J. Adrián Medina Amarillas stressed that various vaccines will be applied throughout the year and, in addition to this strategy, intensive activities are scheduled focusing on age groups that require priority attention.
“We have supply in all cities, so we invite all families to ensure that their daughters and sons receive these vaccines and complete the basic schedule, they just need to go to the nearest health department and apply,” he commented.
Activities and Programs
Currently, the Ministry of Health and the entire health department of Baja California have vaccines for BCG, meningeal tuberculosis, hepatitis B, polio, measles, rubella, mumps, and diphtheria. Pertussis, tetanus, pneumococcal and rotavirus.
Likewise, a campaign against human papillomavirus (HPV) was launched targeting girls in the fifth, sixth and first grades of primary school and out-of-school children aged 11, 12 and 13 years.
Through the universal vaccination program, Baja California has administered a total of 388,406 doses of vaccine to newborns, children, adolescents and pregnant women as of the end of August.
Medina Amarillas emphasized that vaccines are an effective tool to prevent diseases in girls, boys, adolescents and adults, which is why the vaccination program is permanent and available free of charge in health centers, hospitals and clinics throughout the sector.
