A BBC podcast hosted by pop star Sam Smith has won two awards at the 2023 British Podcast Awards.
Positive Living: HIV from Terrence Higgins to Today explores the stories of HIV in the UK over the last 40 years and won Podcast of the Year and a Gold Award for Best Factual Podcast.
The award was presented to the production team by Martin Butler and Richard Angell, co-founder and chief executive of The Terrence Higgins Trust respectively.
Elsewhere, My Therapist Ghosts Me, hosted by Irish media personality and Vogue model Williams and comedian Joan McNally, has won the podcast champion race.
The Newsies, hosted by journalists Emily Maitlis, John Sopel and Lewis Goodall, won the gold award for best daily podcast, while My Dad Wrote a Porn, about three friends who read erotica written by one of their fathers, won the hall. glory reward.

Elsewhere, the rising star gong was presented to The Guardian’s Shanta Joseph, who hosts the Pop Culture podcast, where she talks about current pop culture stories trending online.
The Gold Award for Best News and Current Affairs Podcast went to The Guardian for Today In Focus, while the Gold Award for Best Entertainment Podcast went to Alice James and John Robins’ podcast for BBC Radio 5 Live and BBC Sounds.
News publication Tortoise was recognized for its Pig Iron podcast series when it won the Gold Award for Best Documentary Podcast, while the Gold Award for Best History Podcast went to Sounds Of Black Britain from The Black Curriculum.
Other categories included Best Children’s Podcast, Best Parenting Podcast, Best Sex and Relationships Podcast, Best Sports Podcast, Best True Crime Podcast and Best Welsh Language Podcast.
Awards were also given out in subjects including climate, business, fiction and wellbeing.
The awards took place at Outernet London and were hosted by comedians Zoe Lyons and Stephen Bailey.
