“Honestly, I don’t even know because I’m not that good at talking or trying to sell anything, so to speak. Looking back, it was a very, very strange journey that I cannot explain.Burton said when asked about his path to Hollywood. “That’s why it’s hard for me to watch movies afterwards because I still feel the emotions from them. I get no relief from this. But I like all the people I’m with have worked“, explained the director.
In light of this, Burton moved on to talk about his new upcoming project. “In this last film, Beetlejuice 2, I really liked the set. I tried to throw everything away and go back to the basics of working with good people, actors and puppets. It was like going back to why I loved making films.” After a series of films that were not entirely appreciated by critics and audiences, which seemed to distance the director from his classical approach to filmmaking, Beetlejuice 2 it seems to offer what these recent projects have been missing, which is not just Burtonian imagery, but a precise way of telling a story through imagery.
