Bella Thorne, Mike O’Hearn and Emily Willis also star.

The film features black and white cinematography by Danny Hile. The Alcazar writer-director is producing the film alongside Javier Lovato, Rafael Jindre and Johnny Stark; The score features music by DJ Muggs and Dean Hurley.

Previously, Alcazar, along with executive producer 50 Cent for HBO, shot the documentary film “Tapia” about boxer Johnny Tapia in 2013, and in 2016 he debuted at the Sundance Festival in collaboration with Flying Lotus “FUCKKKYOUUU”. Alcazar also directed the 2018 SXSW film Perfect, which was also executive produced by Soderbergh, who reunites with the director for Divinity.

Soderbergh told Letterboxd that he first contacted Alcazar after actor Chris Santos texted him from the set of Ideal saying he needed to meet Alcazar.

“The reason I met Eddie Alcazar in the movie ‘Perfect’ that he did before ‘Divinity’ was because Eddie Alcazar had an actor on the set, Chris Santos, who was in ‘The Girlfriend Experience,’ and he wrote to me. , and he says, “I think you should meet this guy.” There’s something going on with this guy,” Soderbergh said. “I was involved in the post-production of ‘Perfect’ and then we started talking about other things.”

He added: “My goal is to contribute in a way that I don’t have to do much. But I enjoy doing it and it’s fun. It’s especially nice when you feel that nothing would have happened if you hadn’t helped. It’s a good feeling, unlike what was going to happen anyway.”

Fellow auteur Darren Aronofsky also collaborated with Alcazar as an executive producer on his film Vandal, which will screen at Cannes in 2021.

“Divinity” will premiere in theaters on October 13. Check out the trailer below.
