Lions’ gathering ahead of the next season of the URC and Challenge begins on Monday 26 June in La Ghirada
Benetton Rugby is starting to rev up its engines with next year’s United Rugby Championship and Challenge Cup in mind. A season that will experience a special beginning, as happens every four years in conjunction with the World Cup. As far as the Championship is concerned, 2023/24 will actually start later than others, precisely on the weekend of October 21-22, with many players returning or still busy with the national teams.
So a smooth programming is not waiting for the technical staff of Lions as well as other URC clubs. The plans are also complicated by the fact that many athletes have already been called up by their respective national teams for rallies and tests ahead of the World Cup: several Lions are preparing with Italy, others with Argentina and Tonga. .

However, around Treviso, players not considered by the national teams would not remain stable. Tomorrow, Monday 26 June, the first Benetton Rugby Meeting is set to begin physical preparations for the 2023/24 season. Over the next two weeks, from June 26 to July 7, the green and whites will hold loads and sessions at the La Ghirada sports centre.
After a week’s rest, the athletes will return to work again at the Treviso facility from 16 July to continue preparations for the start of the United Rugby Championship 2023/24. In between, a team retreat is also planned in the mountains from 4 to 9 September. Below is a list of players who will attend the meeting with Benetton Rugby and a list of athletes who will not be present due to commitments with national teams.
