LOS ANGELES – Beyoncé’s “Renaissance” world tour may be heading to the big screen.
According to Variety, a film version of the superstar’s blockbuster concert may be released through AMC Theatres, which is in the final stages of negotiations to distribute it directly. Sources tell the publication that the project includes a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the album and the formation of the tour, as well as snippets of live performances and the highly anticipated visual album. He is planning a wide release date of December 1st.
Rumors about a potential Renaissance film first surfaced when the tour kicked off in Stockholm this past May, after a crew member told fans that cameras would be rolling during a stop in Beyoncé’s hometown: “We’ll be (in Houston) for two days , and we’re going to shoot a movie there.” Additionally, Above the Line reported last month that the visual album was secretly filmed by artist and director Nadia Lee Cohen.
News of the Renaissance film follows last month’s announcement that Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour concert film would be distributed directly to AMC theaters. The film, titled “Taylor Swift: The Tour of the Era,” was filmed during her six-night run at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood and will be released in theaters on October 13.
Beyonce wraps up her Renaissance tour Saturday night at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City. The Arena Walk is a high-tech, two-and-a-half-hour costume show in which the singer performs her 2022 dance album in order, interspersed with old tunes and covers.
The play also features a cameo from her 11-year-old daughter Blue Ivy, a fashion showcase with numerous ballroom dancers and challenges for her chrome-plated audience to her songs “Energy” and “Love on Top.” Ticket revenue is expected to be approximately $560 million, according to Billboard Boxscore.
“Man, can Beyoncé sing,” LA Times pop music critic Mikael Wood wrote of her tour’s “opening” Renaissance section, a section in which she reprises select ballads from her career. “I love the opportunity to open the show with a vocal showcase like that. It’s as if she’s saying, “Yes, we’re going to have a great time tonight, but first let me remind you of what I learned to do before you even knew it.” who I was.”
“This tour has a different physical profile than Bey,” added staff writer August Brown while live-streaming her three-day visit to SoFi Stadium in Inglewood. “She’s a great dancer, one of the best in music, but she’s also not afraid. puff up and roll around on a bunch of mattresses and let your team squirm. She’s delighted. … We’ve known this since Coachella 2018, but she’s simply the best live performer working today.”
Representatives for AMC Theatres, CAA and Beyoncé Parkwood Entertainment did not respond to the LA Times’ request for comment.
