It’s been 23 years since Nick Bateman caused chaos in the Big Brother house, but the scandal still haunts him to this day. The former senior broker, also known as “Nasty Nick”, was caught trying to influence the nominations, breaking one of the show’s cardinal rules. As a result, Nick was kicked out of the house in disgrace.

Despite the controversy, Nick’s time on the first series of Big Brother was undoubtedly entertaining. Six million viewers watched as Craig Phillips, now the series winner, confronted Nick about his actions in front of the nation. The 55-year-old said: “Basically I have to say this Nick, I’m very disappointed in myself. I not only feel, but I am quite sure, and I have proof that you are preparing a very dirty plan against everyone here.” But since then, Nick’s life has changed dramatically.

Nick may have been kicked out of his home, but he didn’t let that stop him from making a name for himself in the world of media. After his controversial stint on the show, Nick continued his media career, appearing on GMTV, Through the Keyhole and Big Brother’s Bit On The Side.

Nick also shocked fans when he was photographed with Hollywood heartthrob Brad Pitt at the premiere of Snatch in 2000. The unlikely duo made a real-life couple, and Nick’s reputation as a reality TV villain added an extra layer of intrigue to the photo. Nick also took up writing and became a regular contributor to various publications. In 2001, he even published his own book called Nasty Nick: How to Be a Real Bastard. And while Nick may have left the UK for a new life in 2013, he hasn’t slowed down one bit. Nick now works as a freelance writer in Sydney, Australia, where he continues to make a name for himself in the world of media.

Nick revealed the reasons for his departure in a recent interview with The Express. The former Big Brother contestant explained that his fame after being on the show led to a difficult lifestyle in which even a trip to McDonald’s could be made difficult due to his newfound fame.

He said, “One minute no one knew me, and the next minute everyone knew me; this meant that getting into McDonald’s or a bar could be difficult. directing. But finding a job was difficult. It was a dreary, cold day in the English countryside in 2013 when I decided to start a new life. If I didn’t do it now, I would never have done it. I moved to Sydney where I was blessed with a beautiful country, blue skies and a lifestyle that I enjoy. My marketing work revolves around social media for businesses – writing content and posting ads.”
