Buffalo Bills fans have earned a reputation for being some of the loudest and rowdiest in the NFL, but Tyreek Hill isn’t fazed by the idea of moving to Buffalo.
The Miami Dolphins wide receiver spoke out this week ahead of the AFC East meeting, saying he doesn’t believe Buffalo is any louder or harder to play than any other road game in the NFL. These comments agitated some Bills fans, who perceived the comment as some kind of subtle hint aimed at fans.
Tyreek Hill isn’t worried about playing in Buffalo
The Dolphins have posted a 3-0 record this season thanks to one of the best offenses in league history to start the season. They average 43.3 points per game and defeat the Denver Broncos 70-20. Hill contributes by leading the AFC with 412 rushing yards.
The Bills overcame a rocky start to the season with an overtime loss to the New York Jets with two defensive masterpieces to defeat the Las Vegas Raiders and Washington Commanders by a combined 75-13.
Ahead of Sunday’s game between the Bills and Dolphins, Hill said he has a lot of respect for the Bills, although he’s not as concerned about having to play in Orchard Park.
“I just feel like it’s no different than any road game,” Hill said, via Pro Football Network. “They have a great team. I feel like the fan base is just like any other fan base. So it will be like a normal environment for us.”
Hill added that his team needs to keep that same mentality on Sunday, focusing only on the Bills and not worrying about the atmosphere they’ll face.
“(We have) real players,” Hill said. “They’re going to come in there unfazed and play and do what we’ve been doing all year.”
This game has major divisional implications as the Dolphins move up two games on the Bills with a win. The Bills could move into first place in the division if they knock off the Dolphins.
Bill fans fight back
Hill’s remarks did not sit well with many Bills fans, with some taking to social media to express their anger at his assessment.
“It’s nothing at all. Jumping on this a little bit to piss off fans with a game they’ll already be pissed off about,” a fan wrote on the page X.
One of the team’s employees tried to incite the fans’ anger. Chris Brown, a reporter for the team’s official website, said Hill’s words could be seen as a direct challenge.
“It looks like Tyreek Hill is challenging you directly. #BillsMafia,” Brown wrote. X. “I’ll have to prove him wrong on Sunday.”
Other fans noted that Hill had little success in Buffalo during his career, losing both games at Orchard Park. In addition to his strong playoff performance against the Bills with the Kansas City Chiefs, Hill put up incredible numbers against the Bills, averaging just 45.1 receiving yards per game with one total touchdown during the regular season. .
