Bills’ Von Miller admits he’s big Tom Brady fan

Von Miller is a huge fan of Tom Brady. No, that’s not a typo.

During a recent episode of Miller’s podcast, “The Voncast,” the linebacker connected with former New England Patriots receiver Julian Edelman, who won the NBA title with Brady A three-time Super Bowl champion and was named Super Bowl MVP in 2019.

Early in the episode, Miller professed his love for Brady and told Edelman that he almost got a tattoo to express his affection for the seven-time Lombardi Trophy winner.

“It’s going to be a 12 like the Patriots number font and an 18 like the Broncos number font,” Miller said. “At the last moment I thought no, I’d better save this position for later.”

Bills Mafia may be relieved that Miller is now a star pass rusher in the blue, red and white, but he’s not holding on to the idea.

Miller went on to talk about Brady’s down-to-earth personality and argued that the only reason to dislike Brady is a bad reason — “because he wins.”

Miller began to really like Brady during the Kentucky Derby and saw Brady’s “smiling” personality and enthusiastic nature. Miller also made Brady available for an interview with CBS Sports, something he wouldn’t normally do.

Edelman joked that the feeling wasn’t mutual, expressing how the Patriots had to change the play count when playing against Miller as a Bronco. He specifically mentioned the 2013 AFC Championship game and how the Patriots wanted the game to be full of snow, making it difficult for Peyton Manning to catch the pigskin.

The weather was not what one would expect in New England.

“It was 75 degrees and the sun was shining, and Von Miller (Brady) was in our backfield before he could say ‘hut,'” Edelman said. “I’m in the slot, I walk over, look at the ball, and before I even take my first step, you’re in the backfield.”

Edelman also criticized Brady for being interviewed by Miller but not appearing on his podcast.

The Bills face Brady and Edelman’s former team on Sunday in Foxborough, Massachusetts. Miller praised the Patriots this week despite their 1-5 record. New England quarterback Mac Jones hasn’t thrown a touchdown pass in four weeks and has been intercepted five times in the past three games. But Miller said it looks just like the old Patriots.

Yes, right.

“To me, this looks like the golden era Patriots,” he said. “Same game, obviously different players at different positions. I saw a game earlier and I thought, this is the same game that Tom Brady and (Rob) Gronkowski used to eat. This type of play. The action was top-notch for Gronkosi, but it was a little different for Mac Jones and (Mike) Gesicki.

“It seems like the fundamentals, the techniques are the same. You can see the greatness there, it just hasn’t materialized yet. I think part of it is, in a lot of the games they’ve played this season, the games have ended early. They’ve Got into trouble early. … They had turnovers early in the game that took them out of rhythm. … But it looks like Bill (Belichick) is committed to it The attitude, it looks like the golden years of the Patriots.”
