Madison, Wisconsin — tom brady The No. 19 Michigan men’s cross country team finished second overall at the Big Ten Championships for the second consecutive season, finishing third overall against three top-15 finishers on Friday (Oct. 27) at Thomas Field. juxtaposed. Zimmer Championship Course.
No. 24 Wisconsin won the conference title with 19 points and the team title. Michigan State University (63 points), Michigan State University (86 points), Purdue University (115 points) and Illinois State University (133 points) rounded out the top five.
Brady was the top runner for both the Maize and Blue teams, completing the 8-kilometer distance in 24 minutes and 18.9 seconds. Although Brady placed 11th in the first 2000m, he steadily moved up in the 4K and 6K passes to retain his second place spot. The graduate student finished third and held his own at the finish line, marking his second top-five finish in as many meetings.
Owen McKenzie He made his debut at the Big Ten Championships, leading the 2K and finishing third behind Brady in the 4K before finishing eighth in 24 minutes, 36.2 seconds.
Caleb Jerma A strong performance, finishing 11th in 24:39.0. McKenzie and Jarema both earned All-Big Ten second-team honors for their efforts.
The Wolverines established themselves immediately, finishing second in the 2K game and never trailing. Michigan’s top five players stayed within the top 25 from start to finish.
With the conference tournament concluded, Michigan State will return to the same court in two weeks for the NCAA Great Lakes Regional Tournament on Friday, Nov. 10 at 12:30 p.m. CT.
