Browns could sign 4 quarterbacks after Deshaun Watson goes down for season

Things seemed to be turning for the Cleveland Browns in 2023, but they received bad news as quarterback Deshaun Watson was expected to miss the rest of the season with a broken shoulder. Tom Brady isn’t walking through Berea’s door anytime soon (we can dream, though, right?), and the Browns are now in the market for another quarterback to fill a roster spot.

Unfortunately for the Browns, the options are bleak as the trade deadline has passed. That means they could pull a quarterback from another team’s practice squad. While the Browns prepare to start Dorian Thompson-Robinson, they now have to ride out their rookie quarterback and P.J. Walker for the rest of the season.

However, in their search for a third quarterback, the Browns brought in some options that made sense.

Whether we like it or not, this is the most logical answer to the Browns’ emergency quarterback situation. Kellen Mond is having the best part of the year with Berea and the Browns. This addition to the Browns will likely come as a backup rather than a potential starter.

Mond makes a lot of sense and is the least enticing option to remove Mond from the Indianapolis Colts practice squad.

During his NFL career, Rypien started NFL games for the Denver Broncos and Los Angeles Rams. Currently on the Seattle Seahawks’ practice squad, the Browns have an opportunity to sign him to the active roster.

It’s a Hail Mary, a pass with a less than one percent chance of catching. However, the recently retired Tom Brady could be lured back by the big money to play for a contending team with one of the best defenses in the NFL.

Don’t put your money on it, but it would be the best-case scenario (and least likely).
