Camila Cabello opens up about the pressure to look a certain way

Camila Cabello has realized what it means to be in the public eye and the surface pressure that comes with it.

In an interview with New beauty Following her runway appearance at L’Oréal Paris’ Le Défilé Walk Your Worth show last week, Cabello, 26, opened up about what female empowerment means to her and how being famous at a young age affected her.

The singer said she goes through “phases” where she “drops in and out” from the public eye to maintain her mental health.

“I had to go through phases where I was more of a recluse, kind of hiding and almost pretending I wasn’t in the public eye,” Cabello said. “There are times in my life when I really forget that I’m in the public eye, even though I am. And then a few months later I’ll be on social media again and I’ll be like, “Oh, they have all these terrible photos.”

Regarding the pressure to look a certain way, Cabello said she feels the same way about her body image as she does about her fame, and goes through “chapters” where “I just don’t care.”

“I’ve had healthy times where my weight was probably fluctuating a lot and I was like, ‘Oh well, I’ll just live my life like a normal person,'” she continued. “And there are other times when I feel more exposed or vulnerable; I see more of my photographs, I am more in touch with this part of the work. And then I definitely feel the pressure.”

Cabello continued, “But I think for me there just has to be a line that you draw where you say, ‘I have to take care of myself,’ and it’s cool within the confines of being honest without giving myself away.”
