Cinema Eye Honors Announces 2024 Nominees in Broadcast Categories – The Hollywood Reporter

Cinema Eye Honors, the organization that recognizes documentaries, nonfiction films and series, announced its nominees Thursday in five broadcast categories, as well as its annual list of short films, films from the People’s Choice Award longlist and Unforgettable Award winners.

Hulu Project 1619executive producer Oprah Winfrey and Showtime Nothing is eternalbroadcast announcements of films and TV series with three nominations each. In total, Hulu won eight awards, Netflix won five, and Showtime won four. Sweet Baby: Brooke Shields, Edge of Unknown with Jimmy Chin, Mommie Dearest And Paul T. Goodman also received several nominations.

The People’s Choice Award longlist includes 20 of the year’s most notable documentaries. Every year, tens of thousands of fans choose the final ten nominees, as well as the winner. Previous nominees have included RBG, Summer of Soul, Navalny, My Octopus Teacher And Free solo. This year’s list includes Eternal Memory, American Symphony, Still: Michael J. Fox Film, Printed from the Beginning, 32 Sounds, Compassionate Spy, Confessions of a Good Samaritan, The Mission, Dove Tunnel And Stephen Curry: Underrated.

Cinema Eye’s “Unforgettable” is a category that celebrates “the collaboration between filmmakers and participants in front of the camera.”

The 2024 awards ceremony will take place on January 12 at the New York Academy of Medicine in East Harlem. Selected shorts from this year’s Shorts List will screen in both Los Angeles and New York: on Vidiots in Los Angeles on October 21st and on DCTV in New York on November 19th.

“After more than a decade of bringing our celebration to Queens with our friends at the Museum of the Moving Image, we are excited to return to Manhattan for our 17th edition and reimagine our annual awards show at this historic venue in Harlem,” AJ Schnack said in a statement. , Founding Director of Cinema Eye Honors.
