College Station cross country teams win 21-5A meet

MAGNOLIA — The fourth-ranked College Station girls and ninth-ranked CS boys won the District 21-5A cross country championship Thursday morning.

The Lady Cougars scored 38 points to win their 11th district title, with Delaney Ulrich winning the 5,000 meters in 18 minutes, 50 seconds and fellow senior Katherine Brunson finishing second in 19:07. A&M Consolidated finished second with 61 points, followed by Montgomery Lake Creek (79), Montgomery (84), Magnolia (110) and Magnolia West (111).

The College Station boys won with 46 points, with senior Noah Benn third in 16:33 and junior Vance Ballabina close behind in 16:34. That put the Cougars ahead of Montgomery by three points, followed by Lake Creek (66), Magnolia West (85), Consol (104) and Brenham (182).

Consola’s girls were led by freshman Alexandra Staak, who placed third (7:18), and sophomore Elizabeth Gregory, who placed eighth (7:43).

The Lady Cougars’ other 10 runners included senior Jadyn DeVerna, 19:50; 12, freshman Cindy Ramirez, 7:59 p.m.; 13, Junior Ellie Seagraves, 8:03 p.m.; 27, junior Audrey Wong, 21:19; 32, junior Ellie Fleener, 21:52.

The Lady Tigers’ other runners were 15: sophomore Rachel Moran, 20:25; 16, junior Madison Black, 20:32; 19, freshman Rebecca Moran, 8:48 p.m.; 26, freshman Hayden Helms, 21:07.

The Consola boys were led by junior Ben Moran, who finished seventh in 16:48.

The Brenham boys were 35, senior Hunter Fleetwood, 6:30 p.m.; 40, sophomore Jayden Jackson, 7:40 p.m.; 41, junior Alan Guerrero, 19:57; 42, Brock Fleetwood, 20:02; 44, Rowan Jackson, 20:44; 45, junior Josh Knowles, 20:51; 46, Sr. Milo Childs, 8:58 p.m.

Senior rudder Uriel Vasquez-Robles was 43rd (20:19) and sophomore J. Daniel Wellman (23:17) was 47th. Rudder junior Sarah Castillo was 41st (23:35) and Brenham sophomore Brittany Hayek was 43rd (23:57).

The top three teams will advance to the regional meet in Huntsville on October 23.

Cole Gildersleeve of Lake Creek won for the varsity boys in 16:17, and fellow junior Brandon Lopez of Magnolia West was second in 16:27.

Consol won the girls JV division with 25 points, followed by College Station with 45 points.

Console junior Logen Feldhausen was first in 21:09. The College Station JV boys won their division with 36 points, followed by Lake Creek 44, Magnolia West 65, Consol 87, Montgomery 121 and Brenham 183.
