Sean Paul Ryan Francis Henriques, better known simply as Sean Paul, was born on January 9, 1973, in Kingston, Jamaica. From a young age, he displayed a passion for music and sports, swimming competitively and playing basketball.
He began his music career in 1996 with the single “Baby Girl”, which caught the attention of record company VP Records. In 2000 he released his debut album, “Stage One”, which found moderate success in Jamaica and the United States.
His international anointing came in 2002 with the second album, “Dutty Rock”, which sold over 6 million copies worldwide and included the singles “Gimme the Light” and “Get Busy”, which reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
