Jerusalem: After Hamas’s surprise attack on Israel, the Jews declared war on the group. As Israel gains global support, many continue to show their support for Palestine and stand firm in their position on a “free Palestine.”

In Turkey, for example, people held several demonstrations in support of Palestine and attacks on Israel. During the rally in Istanbul, people were seen chanting anti-Israel slogans and waving Palestinian flags. Meanwhile, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan called for “restraint on both sides.”

In Iran and Qatar, people celebrated the attacks and congratulated the Palestinian group. An adviser to Supreme Leader Ali Hosseini Khamenei expressed Iran’s support for the Hamas attack.

“We congratulate the Palestinian fighters. We will support Palestinian militants until the liberation of Palestine and Jerusalem,” said Rahim Safavi, an adviser to Khamenei.

A video of the Iranian parliament also went viral shortly after the attack, in which chants of “Death to Israel and America” can be heard.

Moreover, Qatar stated that Israel is the sole reason for the escalation of the ongoing conflict with Palestine. In a show of support for Palestine, Qatar’s foreign ministry called for restraint on both sides.

Doha also called on the international community to “prevent Israel from using these events as a pretext to launch a disproportionate war against Palestinian civilians in the Gaza Strip.”

Countries aside, people online remain divided in their support. While the majority have begun to express their support for Israel against the surprise attack, many continue to raise their voices in support of #FreePalestine.

Internet personality Mia Khalifa also remains a leading voice of the Free Palestine movement. “If you can look at the situation in Palestine and not end up on the side of the Palestinians, then you are on the wrong side of apartheid, and history will show that in time,” Khalifa said on X.

Many others traveled to X to report on the attacks on the Al-Aqsa Mosque during the holy month of Ramadan. Palestinians barricaded themselves inside the mosque after reports emerged that Jews were planning to sacrifice a goat at the site, which is prohibited by law. Following this, Israeli forces raided the mosque, leading to riots between Palestinians and Israeli police.

“Found this video from last Ramadan where the Israeli military stormed Al-Aqsa and attacked innocent worshipers. The Western media were silent about all this, and now they’ve suddenly woken up…” said one of these users, X.

Israel declared war on Hamas following its surprise attack on Saturday, October 7, 2023. The conflict continues, with more than 400 people killed and thousands wounded. World leaders and international organizations have called for an end to the violence.
