Dallas Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons agrees with Tom Brady that there’s a lot of ‘mediocre’ in the NFL right now
Tom Brady made an interesting point last week when he said there is a lot of “mediocrity” in the current NFL. Brady not only criticized the team’s lack of outstanding performance, but also criticized the current coaching and the number of penalties. The video drew a lot of attention, including support from Aaron Rodgers and some criticism from Alex Smith.
Dallas Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons also joined Brady in his support, criticizing the number of penalties, especially those against defenders.
“Tom Brady said there are a lot of mediocre players in the NFL today,” Parsons said. “Without a doubt, 100 percent agree. The league has moved more into the offensive league. I just don’t think there’s the same love and protection for defensive players. “There are players, there are teams that are going to take advantage of those rules. “
“A quarterback can be running full speed one play and then give himself up and then act like he’s coasting the next time,” Parsons said. “Or you think he’s going to slide and he might be joking and you attack him with the same energy because you don’t know if he’s fake sliding or if he’s sliding. You might get a penalty, you might get a letter, Because you’re late to the quarterback. I just think it’s ridiculous. Like, you either can hit that guy or you can’t. You’re kicking the ball at full speed instead of kicking the ball at 50 percent. I agree 100% Tom ·Brady Says,” via Bleacher Report on Youtube.
Micah Parsons is absolutely right about the ridiculous nature of some fouls and penalties against defensive players. While improving the safety of the play is paramount, there are times when defenders are asked to take clean hits or when they don’t have any time to slow down/change direction on an explosive play. With some of the league’s best current and former players like Brady and Parsons speaking out, it’s important for the NFL to listen.
