Creed 3 towards the best debut of the saga at the box office: Jonathan Majors sets a record?

FILM INFORMATION

The Creed saga has a bright future ahead of it, especially given that the upcoming new chapter, Creed 3is expected to debut at the box office with the highest grossing debut for the franchise.

According to analysts, in fact, the new MGM title, the directorial debut of Michael B Jordan, should enjoy a record-breaking opening for the Rocky spin-off franchise centered on the son of Apollo Creed, with a gross in North America between 38 million and 40 million dollars from a total of 4,007 theaters: the previous two chapters of the franchise, released respectively in 2015 and 2018, had debuted in North America with a total of 29 million (which became 42.1 million in 5 days) and 35.5 million (56 million in 5 days) and both with an A score on CinemaScores.

Creed III will arrive in theaters with a 90% ‘Certified Fresh’ sticker with critics on Rotten Tomatoes, that’s over 83% of Creed II and slightly less than 95% of Creed. The threequel cost $75 million (without marketing expenses) and strong box office results are expected. And by the way excellent results, if Creed III should he debut at the top of the standings, he would bring Jonathan Majors on his way to a curious record at the American box office: the actor would in fact become the first, since 2012, to debut with two consecutive live-action films at the top of the box office, with Creed III which will blow the first place ad Ant-Man & The Wasp: Quantummania; in 2012 this result was achieved by Jessica Chastainwhich remained first in the charts with Mom after Andy Muschietti’s horror stole the top spot from Zero Dark Thirty (Josh Brolin also achieved a similar result in 2018 with Avengers: Infinity War And Deadpool 2but in the case of the MCU film the actor’s performance was totally in motion-capture).
