Bob George, who produced Drake Doremus’ recent dramas. Novelty, Zoey And Ending, Beginning, has already died. He was 51.
George died Tuesday after he was hit by a car while riding his bicycle in Silver Lake, said writer and actor Ben York Jones. Hollywood Reporter. “He was very healthy, careful, conscientious and humble and rode his bike everywhere,” Jones said.
Born in Peoria, Illinois, Robert Joseph George Jr. started out as a production accountant on such big-budget films as Armageddon (1998), Pearl Harbor (2001), Sum of all fears (2002), three Pirates of the Caribbean movies and The lone ranger (2013).
He was a production consultant Divergent (2014) before producing his first feature film, Scott Free. Novelty (2017). The film, written by Jones and starring Nicholas Hoult and Laia Costa, premiered at Sundance before being acquired by Netflix.
He reunited with Doremus in the film starring Ewan McGregor and Léa Seydoux. Zoey (2018), which premiered at Tribeca and was picked up by Amazon, and Ending, Beginning (2019), a Toronto film starring Shailene Woodley, Jamie Dornan and Sebastian Stan, was acquired by Samuel Goldwyn Films.
George and Jones worked on another Doremus film. Aurora, from CJ Entertainment, at the time of his death. He also served as a production consultant for the upcoming action film. Tin soldierdirected by Brad Furman and starring Jamie Foxx and Robert De Niro.
According to Jones, George was hit by a car just after the door of a parked car opened onto the bike path.
Survivors include his wife, artist Yasmine Nasser Diaz, and his sister Jennifer.
