Drake Rewrites Sneaker History With Nocta x Nike Glide Black | GQ Italy

Drake he was never one to shy away from weird, original, and out-of-the-box ideas, especially when it came to sneakers. After the show Nocta x Nike fins in March, Champagne Papi offers them Nocta x Nike Glide Blackprobably one of the most unusual and unexpected sneakers of the year.

To some, these may seem like ordinary sneakers. However, if you like old school silhouettes, you’ll quickly notice the references to Nike Zoom Flight 95. Originally developed Eric Avar In 1995, even back then, these were weird looking basketball shoes. A futuristic design inspired by insect eyes and Nike Zoom Air technology for cushioning and responsiveness. It was a sneaker made from premium materials like leather and mesh and featured a classic black and white color scheme with brown detailing. The Nike Zoom Flight 95 is an iconic shoe that combines retro style with performance. When SlipDrake copied and pasted the design almost entirely, but added a few personal changes.

Unlike Enlarge Flight 95 Originally featuring a suede upper, the version signed by the Canadian artist features a mesh structure for breathability. However, the artist retained the carbon fiber-like paneling and chunky midsole known as the “Bug Eye” for its shape reminiscent of insect eyes. He also added an additional element: a fourth eyelet at the back of the heel, which gives the shoe an asymmetry.

Other details borrowed from the ZF95 include a heel tab and lateral swoosh. The artist personalized the shoes with a logo Nike on eyelets and badges Nokta varnishes on tabs.

There Nocta x Nike Glide Black this is a special model, and Drake knows it well. Essentially, it’s a clear nod to Zoom Flight 95, but with new elements added to make it feel fresh and futuristic. The launch is scheduled for July and the sneakers will be available at Nocta, Nike and select retailers worldwide for around €160. In the meantime, however, it can already be found on resale sites such as StockX.
