On Sunday (October 15), TMZ published a video interview with Dennis Graham, Drake’s father, who explained why his son has not spoken out on the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas in the Middle East. A cameraman caught up with Dennis at LAX and asked if the conflict had affected Drake, who is Jewish.
“Well, I mean, I’m sure it’s going to affect everyone, you know what I’m saying? This is simply absurd,” he said.
Dennis speculated that his son likely hasn’t spoken out because he feels the rapper might receive more backlash for publicly addressing such a controversial issue.
“If you say something about it, you will be criticized, right, and you are saying that if you say something about anyone else, you will be (criticized),” he explained. “So stay away from it, especially if you’re someone well known.”
“If you are a celebrity and you say something in favor of one against the other, it will come back to bite you,” he added.
Drake and DJ Khaled were accused of not speaking out about the conflict between Israel and Hamas
Drake’s silence on the Middle East crisis has become a hot topic on social media, especially after YouTube host DJ Vlad criticized Drizzy and DJ Khaled, a Palestinian, for not using their large platforms to speak out.
“Has anyone noticed that the most famous Jew on Earth, Drake, and the most famous Palestinian on Earth, DJ Khaled, haven’t said a word about the conflict between Gaza and Israel?” Vlad tweeted on X, formerly known as Twitter. “It’s not like Drake is too busy. “But they both remained silent on the topic,” he continued. Why is this?”
DJ Vlad suggested that Drake and Khaled are keeping quiet because they want to stay relevant and not hurt themselves financially by talking about social issues like the war going on in the Middle East.
“That’s because both are so eager to maintain their relevance that they wouldn’t risk offending some of their fans,” he wrote. “Heaven forbid that Drake debuts at number two behind Taylor Swift because some of his Palestinian fans decided not to stream his album. And it would be the end of the world if Khaled sold a few fewer sneakers because some Jews decided not to buy him. his Jordans.”
