Britney Spears recalled how “rooms full of men” looked at her “up and down” when she auditioned for her first record deal.
The 41-year-old pop superstar was just 15 when, after leaving the Mickey Mouse Club, she decided to record her own music and her mother introduced her to lawyer Larry Rudolph, who in turn suggested she record a demo version of the song. an unused Toni Braxton song to “get into record labels.”
In an excerpt from her new memoir, The Woman in Me, published by People magazine, she wrote: “Larry took me around New York and I would walk into rooms full of executives and sing Whitney Houston’s “I Have Nothing.”

As soon as she signed and secured a record deal, the label wanted her to “go into the studio immediately” as she began work on her debut album…Baby One More Time.
She continued: “I worked for hours on end. My work ethic was strong. If you knew me then, you wouldn’t have heard from me for days.
“I would stay in the studio as long as I could. If someone wanted to leave, I would say, “I wasn’t perfect.”
“When all the songs were done, someone said, ‘What else can you do? Do you want to dance now? I said, “Hell yes, it is!” “
Britney remains committed to making new music after returning to the stage with will.i.am in their collaboration “Mind Your Business.”
She recently admitted that she wants to team up with Jay-Z on a new version of his wife Beyoncé’s 2016 song “Daddy Lessons.”
Sharing a video of herself dancing to the track on Instagram, she wrote: “So many people have remixed my songs without me knowing…so I think it’s safe to say I’ll remake this song eventually!!!
“Just need to meet Jay-Z and add rap to it… what happened??? (sic)”
The song was originally featured on Beyoncé’s Lemonade album seven years ago, with a remix featuring The Chicks released later that year.
