Ed Sheeran Announces Plans After Fall Variations

During a recent appearance in support of Autumn Variations, Ed Sheeran revealed what’s coming next.

He assured his fans that “Autumn Variations” was created for his loyal fans. Sheeran revealed (via @teddys_guitar on X) that he plans to create albums for all the seasons – just like he did with the math symbols in his previous release.

“I plan to release Summer Variations and Spring Variations, and there will be (a Winter Variations album),” Sheeran said. “But that’s not what comes after this (Autumn Variations).”

What will happen next? Another pop album is coming, perhaps in the vein of Equals (=)?

“We have a big pop album,” Sheeran said.

It feels like a return to the radio-friendly sound that Sheeran embraced on Equals. Judging by the sound of the Autumn Variations tracks played by Sheeran, the new album will match Subtract (-). It sounds much more acoustic, resulting in Sheeran’s best album in every way when it comes to Subtract.

Ed Sheeran is one of the hottest artists in the world. He is currently wrapping up his Mathematics Tour, celebrating his first five albums (and his sixth Collaboration Project). The tour began last year in support of Equals and continued this year, adding a few Subtract songs along the way. In addition, he gave theatrical concerts in the same cities the night before the stadium performances. These were performances as part of the Subtract tour, during which he played the title album in its entirety.

“Autumn Variations” will be Sheeran’s second release this year – the first of his career.

“Autumn Variations” will be released on September 29.
