Thomasin McKenzie plays a shy girl working in a prison when a new doctor, Anne Hathaway, catches her eye – here’s a new one. Eileen trailer.
William Oldroyd to direct twisty noir thriller Eileen, An adaptation of the 2015 novel by Ottessa Moshfegh, who is credited with writing the screenplay along with her husband Luke Goebel. UK distributor Universal has just released the official trailer for the film, which premiered at the London Film Festival. It will be released in theaters on December 1st.
Set in 1960s New England, the small town of Eileen (played by Last night in Soho(Thomasin McKenzie) is stuck in a dead-end job as a receptionist at the local prison. She’s also stuck in her home life, where she lives with her alcoholic former police chief father (Shea Whigham). Her life continues as usual without incident – that is, until she meets Rebecca.
Anne Hathaway plays the prison’s new female counselor with charismatic magnetism. Eileen is attracted to her glamor and they gradually become friends. One night, this almost obsessive friendship takes an unexpected turn. To say anything more would ruin everything. However, we really liked the film and found it quite strange. This is British director William Oldryod’s first film since 2016, when he took off his helmet. Lady Macbeth. The film starred Florence Pugh, Cosmo Jarvis and Naomi Ackie and was nominated for a BAFTA Award for Outstanding British Film. He dealt with dark topics like Eileen, like a difficult relationship that takes a turn for the worse (to put it mildly). Although Oldroyd has only directed two feature films so far, he seems particularly interested in making twisty thrillers like these. We’d be very happy if studios would continue to let him do this.
