Emma Stone is a great lead in Poor Little Things as she is a favorite to win the Best Actress Oscar.
Recognizing his more whimsical style, Yorgos Lanthimos (Favorita) returns in Poor People, a film that promises to be one of the most exciting cinematic events of the year and won the Venice Film Festival.
Based on the 1992 novel of the same name written by Alasdair Gray, the film follows the story of Bella Baxter (Emma Stone), a young woman who is brought to life again by the mad brain of Dr. Godwin Baxter (Willem Dafoe).
As the story’s protagonist, Emma Stone also produced the film, which is described as “very, very good.”
A new video has been released that serves as an ever-expanding expression of the extraordinary world imagined by Lanthimos, with Stone talking a little about his experience with the film and exploring some of the story’s themes.
Bella Acaba, called upon as a scientist’s experiment, to return to where he is, according to Stone: “He’s getting used to an eagle living in society. It seems to have the same autonomy as the gankha, and more desafios than homens, in turn ficam.”
The clip also shows Bella going on a day of self-discovery with lawyer Duncan Weatherburn (Mark Ruffalo) in a very cartoonish and aesthetically impressive universe.
In just a minute, one can view a satirical and fictional commentary on “Poor Folks”, which is said to be not rejected by common fathers and social norms. What has already been announced in the official synopsis: “Livre dos preconceivetos da sua época, Bella returns to her signatures without the intention of fighting for equality and freedom.”
Stone also shows that the hair motif that this character interprets is because Bella represents the aceitação of one who is mulher, livre, medrus and brave.
To win over some of the best critics of her career, Emma Stone is well-positioned in Melchor Atriz’s bullfight, but she’ll have to confront the strength of heart and storytelling of Lily Gladstone (Killers of the Flower Moon) to capture a second Oscar. It’s going to be a tall order, but it helps that “Poor Little Things” is an absolute critical success and is destined to remain one of the best-loved competitors for a long time.
