Emma Stone (“The Grudge,” “The Grudge”) could become the third simultaneous Golden Globe winner in film and television – GoldDerby

According to 85% of 2024 Gold Derby predictors, former Best Actress in a Comedy/Musical champion Emma Stone (2016 La La Land) is almost certain of winning again thanks to her work in the fantasy epic Poor Little Things. Assuming that this decisive opinion truly reflects that of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, it would make sense for her to parlay that love into that year’s Best TV Comedy Actress nomination for her role in Showtime’s hot new series, The Grudge.

If she had won her potential bids for said projects on the big and small screen, she would have made history as the youngest person to simultaneously receive both types of acting wins at the Golden Globes.

Based on the novel of the same name Alasdair GrayIn Poor People, Stone plays a dead woman named Bella who, brought back to life, embarks on a global odyssey of self-discovery. The film will be Stone’s second feature collaboration with the director. Yorgos Lanthimos and writer Tony McNamara following 2018’s The Favourite, for which she received a supporting Golden Globe nomination. In the series “The Grudge”, which premieres on November 10, Stone will appear along with the creators of the series. Nathan Fielder And Benny Safdie as Whitney, an HGTV star whose life is seemingly ruined by supernatural forces.

If Stone does win a double Golden Globe in 2024, she will repeat the previous set in 1993. Joan Plowright, who simultaneously won supporting actress in film and television awards for Enchanted April and Stalin, respectively. The only performer who has since achieved a similar result is Helen Mirren, which won two major trophies at the 2007 ceremony for The Queen and the miniseries Elizabeth I. While Plaright and Mirren were already over 61 years old at the time of their double triumphs, Stone was only 35.

Stone will become the 45th person (and 28th woman) in 51 years to receive simultaneous Golden Globe nominations for both a film and television role. In terms of participation in comedy roles in both fields, only five women precede her: Carol Burnett (1973; film: “Pete and Tilly”; TV: “The Carol Burnett Show”), Shelley Long (1985; “Irreconcilable Differences”; “Cheers”), Helen Hunt (1998; “As good as it is”; “Crazy about you”), Julia Louis-Dreyfus (2014; “Enough Said”; “Vice President”) and Lily Tomlin (2016; “Granny”; “Grace and Frankie”).

In addition to her previously mentioned roles in La La Land and The Favorite, Stone received four more Golden Globe nominations for her starring roles in 2010’s Easy Girl, 2018’s Battle of the Sexes and Cruella 2021. and her supporting role in 2014’s Birdman. Being the leader of its current film race, its closest competitors are Barrino fantasy (“The color purple”) and Margot Robbie (“Barbie”). While not many of our users are confident in the success of her TV campaign, she has the support of as much as 25% of them and could easily attract more once her series premieres.
