Endgame directors explain why scene with teenage Tony Stark’s daughter was cut

In Avengers: Endgame (2019) was introduced Morgan Starkthe little daughter of Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) played by the young woman Lexi Rabe. Not everyone knows, however, that the daughter of Iron Man was supposed to appear as a teenager towards the end of the film, after the death of Tonywhen the genius billionaire playboy philanthropist is inside the Soul Gem (similar to what we saw in Avengers: Infinity War of 2018).

The teenage version of Morgan Stark is played by Catherine Langfordmainly known for the Netflix series 13 Reasons Why.

In the audio commentary present among the extra contents of the film, the directors Anthony And Joe Russo explained why they decided to discard this sequence:

It was planned right after Tony snapped his fingers. We wanted to make something similar to Thanos meeting his daughter in Avengers: Infinity War, but with Tony and his daughter. The idea is that this zone forces you to confront or reconcile with something that you have never resolved deep within your soul.

This grown-up version of Morgan was never in the film, and in post-production we started to feel the lack of an emotional connection to her, even though she’s played by a wonderful actress. We didn’t have an emotional connection to her character because we’d never seen her before.

Furthermore, a few years ago Angelo Maggi And Martina Felli (voice actors of Robert Downey Jr. and of Catherine Langford) decided to dub this deleted scene:
