The first visitors to the festival arrived on Wednesday with packed backpacks and tents. Hungary’s largest music festival Sziget opens its doors today and the organizers are expecting more than 100,000 visitors, both Hungarians and foreign guests.
ADVERTISINGThe organization of the event, which will last for six days, has faced some obstacles due to heavy rains that have hit the country in recent days and the precarious financial situation of recent months.
Like every year, there is important news. Decades later, for example, classic mobile toilets are being phased out and replaced by modern bathrooms. You don’t even have to worry about dust, because for the first time the earth will be sprayed with an environmentally friendly particle-binding agent.
“In terms of ticket sales, we expect a more modest number of visitors than last year, because last year there was a huge surge after a two-year absence due to Covid,” Tamas explains to our microphones Kadar, director of Sziget Zrt.
Although this year’s festival-goers will not be able to swim in the Danube due to high water levels, they will be able to eat at affordable prices. In fact, 100 restaurants are required to have at least one main course on their menu that costs no more than 6.5 euros.
