‘Fame has no downsides’: Dwayne Johnson talks about his struggles before ‘getting famous’ in candid VIDEO

Dwayne Johnson, aka The Rock, took a moment to talk to his fans about fame. He shared his thoughts in a video on Instagram, answering a follower’s question about the advantages and disadvantages of fame.

Dwayne Johnson lists the advantages and disadvantages of fame

In the video, Dwayne Johnson said that for him, fame has no disadvantages. He explained it. “I’ve been lucky to have been famous for a long time, and I realize there are no downsides to fame because I remember what it was like back in the day,” he added. “Before, the alternative to fame (was) not being famous, and I couldn’t pay rent, I was struggling to figure out who I was, I was fucking broke. I try my best to keep it all in my head.” With these memories in mind, he appreciates his journey and the success he has achieved.

Johnson emphasized that remembering his past struggles with money gives him “good perspective,” “balance” and an “anchor.” This keeps him motivated and hungry. He mentioned, “I never let it go, I always say, ‘I’m one day away from being evicted again,’ so it makes me hungry. So for me there is no downside to fame. I have a lot of celebrities. Friends who completely disagree with me, and that’s okay. We had healthy discussions about fame. And it’s okay to have disagreements. This invites dialogue. It invites discussion. But for me there are no disadvantages.”

He admitted that fame has changed his ability to appear freely in public. Dwayne said: “I miss shopping malls. I miss shopping. I just hope that I’m driving in the car and going (to) the grocery store, the pharmacy, the mall, whatever, whatever, that’s gone away years ago, so that every time I go, it’s important. You need to call in advance, logistics, security.”

Dwayne Johnson’s message to youth

For Johnson, the greatest benefit of fame is the ability to positively influence people around the world. He advised aspiring people: “Over the years, I have learned not to chase fame, and today I share that with people who are on the rise,” he continued. “Don’t chase fame. Pursue being great at something. Pursue greatness. Fame will come or not, but if you are good at something, it will last a long time.”
