Flat evening of the Oscars, but the embrace between Harrison Ford and Ke Huy Quan was moving

No longer like every February but, post Pandemic, like every March that respects itself and will respect, here are the awards of the most famous cinematic night in the world: the Oscars!

Following the January 23 announcement, the 95th Academy Awards were held, as usual, at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles and were directed by television host Jimmy Kimmel, who returned to host the event for the third time after 2017 and 2018. Standing out among all the nominees is the film “Everything Everywhere All at Once”, written and directed by Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert under the pseudonym The Daniels, winner of 7 statuettes out of 11 nominations, including the Best Actress to Michelle Yeoh, making her the first Asian actress to win an Oscar.

So, Five statuettes for the war film “All Quiet on the Western Front” and applause for Brendan Fraser’s victory for Best Actor for “The Whale” who gets a statuette that smells like “revenge”, after a difficult past caused right out of Hollywood.

From the point of view of “media stunts”, however, this edition did not have its memorable moment, which then went viral on the internet. We recall Will Smith’s famous slap to Chris Rock (which is still being talked about), the wrong proclamation of La La Land as Best Picture when the winner was Moonlight or the fall of Jennifer Lawrence on the stage stairs.

Despite the presence of a little donkey on the stage, we can say that we saw a “flat” evening, while still having some beautiful moments like the emotional embrace between Harrison Ford and Ke Huy Quan, the child in Indiana Jones and the Cursed Temple!
