His coaching pedigree remains widely respected, with Coco Gauff calling him one of the people she might work with to “fix” her forehand. ATP reached out to the legendary American coach for an interview and shared some interesting facts about Serena Williams’ youth. According to March, Williams wasn’t that great as a ten-year-old but had everything it took to become a great player.
When Serena was 10 years old, she wasn’t doing well. I had 10,000 parents watch that video and say their kids were better than that, but they didn’t see what was going on behind the scenes. There were arms and legs and heads everywhere, but when I said play point, the whole landscape changed.
