Former Tom Brady teammate who earned $10.8 million in career and was first-round pick loses job as career stalls

N’KEAL Harry is looking for a new NFL team after being cut by the Minnesota Vikings.

The 25-year-old former New England Patriots wide receiver will become a free agent after being waived on Tuesday.

Harry was selected by the Patriots with the 32nd overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.

He is the Patriots’ first first-round receiver since Terry Glenn in 1996.

But he never lived up to his potential in Foxborough, and star quarterback Tom Brady left for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after Haley’s rookie season.

He has since played for the Chicago Bears and spent two spells with the Vikings.

Harry rejoined Minnesota in October as backup for injured star receiver Justin Jefferson.

Jefferson returned to the active roster on Tuesday, and Harry was subsequently placed on waivers by the organization.

After Harry was released, one fan wrote on X: “Not worth it. He has first round talent. Chances of him getting off waivers are slim.”

Another netizen said: “He is the poster child for Belichick’s problematic draft decisions of the past decade. During Brady’s tenure, only wide receivers were selected with first-round picks. Now, the bust is complete .”

A third added: “Belichick’s draft is unbelievable. Not like Debo, AJ Brown, Terry McLaurin, DK, Deontae Johnson or anything like that.”

Before entering the NFL, Harry made a name for himself with the Arizona State Sun Devils.

He was a two-time first-team Pac-12 selection and had 213 receptions for 2,889 yards and 22 touchdowns in college from 2016 to 2018.

Harry signed a three-year, $10.1 million contract with the Patriots after being drafted five years ago.

According to Spotrac, the deal includes a massive signing bonus of $5,364,252.

Since starting his NFL career, Harry has earned a total of $10,871,745.

He has 64 career catches for 714 yards and five touchdowns.
