From pop star to fashion designer. Pharrell Williams in fact, he will be the new creative director of the men’s line of Louis Vuitton. The role was held by Virgil Abloh until his death in November 2021.
In 2003 he co-founded the streetwear brand Billionaire Boys Club, has collaborated with brands such as Moncler, Chanel and Adidas. His first collection for Louis Vuitton will be presented in June during the men’s fashion week in Paris.
Louis Vuitton, a classic and luxury brand, in 2018 with the choice of Abloh, had veered towards a streetwear trend to try to meet the tastes of the people of the eighties and nineties. The singer was linked to Abloh by a long friendship: after his death he spoke of him as “a kind and generous creative genius”.
Furthermore, from February 1, Louis Vuitton has a new president and CEO, the Italian Peter Beccariwho was previously at the helm of Dior.

Pharrell Williams, 49, born in Virginia Beach, achieved success in the late 90s and early 2000s, as a member of the duo The Neptunes, together with Chad Hugo. Over the years he has produced world-famous songs for artists such as Jay-Z, Britney Spears, Snoop Dogg, Justin Timberlake, Kanye West, Madonna, Beyoncé and Gwen Stefani.
Nominated twice for an Oscar – in 2014 for the song Happy, soundtrack of Despicable Me, and in 2017 for producing the film Hidden Figures – he has won 13 Grammy Awards.
His is a name already well known in fashion too: he has collaborated with the Japanese Nigo, now creative director of Kenzo, and with Adidas, as well as being the co-founder of the fashion lines Billionaire Boys Club and Ice Cream Footwear, inspired by skateboarding. In 2020 he launched his own skincare line, Humanrace.
