Keeping up with this year’s shoe trends has been a wild ride, to say the least, from the cork wedges of the noughties to unexpected toe-baring. The fact that platform Ugg boots are poised to make a comeback as temperatures drop is proof of the appetite for nostalgic and head-turning shoe styles. In this sea of extreme shoe choices (toes are the new feet, after all), it will be a relief for some to see the classic peep-toe shoe take center stage once again. Supermodel Gigi Hadid wrapped up Paris Fashion Week in one of the hottest looks of the moment.
Even though only a select few models walked the runway this season, the new generation supermodel still walked in some top shows including Versace, Chanel and Miu Miu. As the curtain fell on Paris Fashion Week, Hadid arrived at the star-studded Miu Miu party in an intricately embellished lace minidress with a turtleneck collar, ruched satin trim and a satin ribbon detail cinching the waist. To complete the elegant look, she added a leather jacket, a quilted box bag and oval sunglasses. While her outfit was kept understated, eagle-eyed observers spotted Hadid’s patent leather buckle-embellished slingback sandals, which are among the most coveted pieces from Miu Miu’s Fall/Winter 2023 collection.
Earlier this year, Fashion dubbed the style “the sexiest shoe of the summer,” and sure enough, its seductive, longline silhouette found its way into the shoe closets of some of the most influential designers of the time, including Gigi Hadid.
