Artist’s Distortions: Gigi Giancursi & Les Ganages are performing tonight, Friday, August 11, at 9 pm, on Lago dei Camosci di S.Ambrogio (regional road 25, entrance from the ferrata car park). Expected and unexpected guests, stories, irony and puns, driven by the sounds of pop and rock music, with a few nods to the music of the sixties and the trap of 2020. Gigi Giankursi’s polluted songwriting returns to the stage, this time the panorama of the pastoral landscape offered by Camoshi Lake, as part of the “Festagosto” review with one of their latest live projects, existing since 2021 called Les Ganages.
On electric guitar and vocals, he joins Gianluca Della Torca (Gattociliegia Contro il Grande Freddo) on bass, Giulia B (Malagria) on electric guitar and vocals, Boe (Waste Pipes) on drums; guests are a very young Mahagonny on backing vocals and Fabrizio Guarrasi (Waste Pipes) on electric guitar.
The repertoire includes pieces from “Cronache dell’abandono”, “Rovesciate”, as well as historical pieces by Perturbazione and unpublished works such as “Solo” and “Mi lamento”, new compositions taken from the recent musical-theatrical performance “Solo. Un metaconcerto debuted last May at Lavanderia a Vapore as part of the Fòl Fest. As always, a place for covers and collaborations: in addition to arranging some of Julia B’s songs, as well as rediscovering authors and bands such as The Clash, Billie Eilish, Coez, Sfera Ebbasta, Anna, Caterina Caselli, Chadia Rodriguez, Madame.
Created in 2021 on the idea of Gigi Giancursi (formerly Perturbazione), Gianluca Della Torca (Gattociliegia Contro il Grande Freddo), Bo (Waste Pipes) and Giulia B (Malagria) as a territorial project, a product of Rivolesi musical harmonies, Les Ganages becomes from immediately open collective, laboratory and container of artistic diversity, with disparate guests who occasionally add incentive to experiment with new arrangements, through genres ranging from songwriting to rock, from sixties sounds to 2020 trap.
An important part of the repertoire is made up of songs by Gigi Jancursi and Giulia B, with some covers arranged in rock-pop tones. Like a mispronunciation of the French term “ganache”, Les Ganages represent a rethinking of the group’s idea in its current conception: ignoring the stylistic and communication patterns imposed by music market trends, the group uses improvisation, continuous sharing, awkward authenticity, simplicity, principles that are valid for the freedom to choose repertoire, dress, image and communication, and therefore pure trust in the music, against any show, so that each concert takes place with less art and more “art”.
Lake Camosi is a cultural retreat in the lower part of the valley just below the Sacra di San Michele. It is easily accessible by car, train or bicycle along the Val di Susa cycle route. This place is surrounded by nature: 6500 square meters of trees and meadows surrounding a small lake, the destination of the chamois descending the rocky wall of the mountain. Pirquiriano drink.
