‘Give cinema some respect’: Martin Scorsese has one request for his film ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’ starring Leonardo DiCaprio after he criticized Marvel for killing cinema

When it comes to the most beautiful expressions of cinema in the film industry, there’s a good chance that people subconsciously reference the films of Martin Scorsese. With over 55 years of experience directing some of the most iconic and critically acclaimed cinematic works in the world of cinema, he has become nothing short of a living legend.

But times have changed, and the meaning of cinema for the rest of the world has changed, and seeing this, the director has something to say, but only one thing to ask.

In a recent interview with Hindustan Times Taxi driver the director spoke about his upcoming film Killers of the Flower Moon starring Leonardo DiCaprio. Although the film was produced in collaboration with Apple and will join their streaming platform Apple TV+ in the future, it will be released in theaters before then.

When asked if the film was originally intended for the tiny screen, the director replied that it was not. He said that the reason the film was released was because he wanted to preserve the legacy of cinema and that audiences should also respect it. He said:

“In the case of Killers of the Flower Moon, it should be seen on the big screen.
Are we going to make a blockbuster? No, we are making a film that needs to be seen on the big screen. Other photos I took? Probably no. Sometimes it’s also the strength of the image: if it plays well on a small screen, it’s interesting. Killers would be playable on the small screen, but it takes time to truly immerse yourself in the game. People say it’s three hours, but you can sit in front of the TV and watch something for five hours. In addition, there are many people who watch theater for 3.5 hours. There are real actors on stage, it’s impossible to get up and walk around. You give him so much respect, you show some respect for cinema.”

Therefore, after accusing Marvel Studios of undermining the true meaning of cinema, the director is trying his best to preserve its essence in this theatrical release.
