Daniel Craig emphasized this significance by stating that in today’s troubled world, where it is difficult to distinguish heroes from villains, Bond’s steadfast character is a beacon of clarity. According to the actor, Bond, as a timeless figure, embodies unwavering determination and action. In the current context, this resilience and commitment to honor is especially refreshing.
Craig told Empire:
“I think what’s important is this. The world is a mess at the moment and we really don’t know who the good guys are and who the bad guys are. It’s not that he himself matters, but the Bond character is as ancient as it gets – he’s an unwavering character who knows who the bad guys are and goes after them. And I think that’s refreshing at the moment. He represents honor.”
As for his role, although Daniel Craig claims that the good nights of sleep outweigh the restless ones, he admits that he approached the job with the utmost seriousness. He was decisive in ensuring that the role maintained its integrity and significance.

Casino Royale A new look at James Bond
Martin Campbell directed not one, but two James Bond films that breathed new life into the iconic character, starting with golden eye and continuing with Casino Royale. Although determining the exact reason for the excellent reception of Daniel Craig’s character remains unclear.
Campbell told Slashfilm:
“In the book, quick kills and a bullet to the head, Bond is fine with that. If it’s a terrible murder, like at the beginning of Casino Royale, when there’s a terrible fight and he’s sitting in the bathtub trying to drown him, then it’s a terrible murder. This is something he finds difficult to deal with. It was from a book.”
The film series takes inspiration from Ian Fleming’s series of books about the character. Campbell revealed his strategic decisions regarding which elements from the books he incorporated into the films to further highlight the character. In both literary works and previous adaptations, James Bond is portrayed as a calm figure, rarely showing tension or facing difficulties in his missions. However, Daniel Craig’s performance made a significant departure from this, as is evident in the character’s brutal and intense intro, as described by the director.
