In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter last year, Zendaya discussed her journey in the second season of Euphoria. She was the executive producer and also starred in the Sam Levinson-produced film Euphoria. According to the actress, “Euphoria” forced her to come out of her shell not only as an actor, but also behind the camera.
Zendaya revealed that she wanted to explore the Euphoria characters beyond high school in season three.
When asked about what she hoped to see in Season 3 as an actress and producer, she responded, “I think it will be interesting to explore post-high school characters. I want to see what Ryu’s journey to sobriety looks like and how chaotic it can look. But also with all the characters in the sense that they’re trying to figure out what to do with their lives when school ends and what kind of people they want to become. The thing about this season was that we got to dive a lot deeper into (the other characters). I think we can do this again in season three. There is so much talent out there that you want to make sure everyone has a chance to take advantage of it.”

She also explained why she took on a larger role as executive producer and spoke about her experience: “In the first season, I already did it without having a title. Sam gave me space to be creative and to learn, and so when it came to season two, as well as the intervening (special) episodes, I felt like it was right to do it in a more formal capacity. . The show allowed me to come out of my shell as an actress, but also behind the camera, being in a place where there are no bad ideas and you feel safe enough to speak up and say, “Hey, what if we try this?” ? Personally, I’m very self-critical, but sometimes I’m very shy, so I won’t say anything. (But here) I have my own responsibilities. I’m there every step of the way, even during the editing, and that’s really special. Usually you don’t get such practical experience, and everyone chooses their own way of producing. This is a labor of love for all of us.”
The actress was asked about her goal or theme that was explored in creating the show. She said: “We didn’t initially have the intention of saying, ‘We need a hopeful show.’ We went into the season just wanting to have a really solid storyline, and there was always the “Rue-run” episode, as we always called it, that existed in all versions of the season. To be honest, I was dreading this episode because I felt like it was such a contrivance. I wanted to give it credit because it would be very painful to watch.”
