In 2014 it hit cinemas around the world Lucy, film directed by French director Luc Besson and starring Scarlett Johansson. The making of the film was the victim of several problems including several rumors about the renunciation of an already designated protagonist.
A great many reports had taken for secured the lead role of Angelina Jolie. Also according to rumors, the actress would have abandoned the production at the last moment, forcing Besson to look for a new interpreter capable of fulfilling the task. Although the matter has been reported by various official sources, the director has always denied saying he has carried out a very short casting process which then led him to choose Scarlett Johansson.
As was very predictable seeing the reviews obtained by the film, Lucy 2 will not be done and Luc Besson has lambasted international journalism for this very reason. For the role of the protagonist, the director himself said he had chosen Scarlett Johansson after only talking to a couple of actresses. The choice of her fell on her for the way in which, according to Besson, she was interested not only in the story that was being told in the film but also to everything behind it, getting into the right spirit to play Lucy. In short, although the newspapers have spoken of a failed casting of Angelina Jolie, it seems that Besson immediately wanted Johansson as his first choice.
