Hundreds welcome freedom frigate’s return to Buenos Aires

Hundreds of people gathered to welcome the crew and the training ship’s return became a moment of national celebration.

Among the crew was 2nd Corporal Maximiliano Miranda, who was welcomed by his daughter Greta Galilea, born during the voyage. There is also gender diversity, with 48 women among the 270-person crew.

In addition to members of the Argentine Navy, the visit was attended by officers from several institutions including Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Paraguay, the United Mexican States and Portugal.

During the five-month cruise, the Freedom Frigate visited an impressive array of foreign and domestic ports, gaining a total of 19,737 nautical miles. This return home is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the crew.

Built at the Astilleros y Fabricaciones Navales del Estado (AFNE) in Rio Santiago, Province of Buenos Aires, the frigate Liberty has been a symbol of the Argentine Navy since its delivery and confirmation of the flag in 1963.

His legacy will live on as he continues to train the next generation of sailors.
