Emma Watson and Dan Stevens starring in Beauty and the Beast earned more than a billion dollars at the box office. Back in 2017, the actress discussed the possibility of a sequel with Access Hollywood. When she was told that fans were looking forward to a sequel, she was shocked and said that she had not heard of this request before. However, she personally would like a continuation, and she has ideas for this. Although the filmmakers did not make an official comment about the continuation.
Emma Watson shared her idea for a Beauty and the Beast sequel
When asked if she would be open to the idea of a sequel to the film Disney film, she said, “I would really like to do a sequel.” You could feel the excitement in her voice as she continued, “Yes!” The actress also added that she has the perfect idea for a sequel. Watson said: “I always thought Belle would become a teacher and run the library in the castle and open it up to the whole village. This is exactly what I was aiming for!”

In a separate interview with Collider Harry Potter the actress commented on how she modernized Belle and made the character her own. She shared, “I love that in our version Belle is not only in awe and doesn’t fit in, but you see her reading and she’s actually an activist in her own community. She teaches other young girls from the village to read. I love those moments where you can see her step outside of her little world and try to grow. It was amazing.”
In the same interview, she also revealed that Belle was a character for whom books and education played a crucial role. She added: “I think Belle is the ultimate symbol of the fact that books can be subversive and incredibly inspiring and liberating. You can travel to places in the world that you would never be able to go to under other circumstances. I was just really proud to play a character that had a certain seriousness to it.”
