Ricardo Jorge The National Institute of Health (INSA) revealed that since October 2, hospitals have reported 13,706 cases of respiratory infections and 502 cases of influenza, indicating a growing trend in influenza and respiratory syncytial virus infections.
“The number of hospitalizations due to RSV (respiratory syncytial virus) infection in children under 24 months of age is on the rise in the sentinel surveillance network,” according to the National Health Institute’s Bulletin on Epidemiological Surveillance of Influenza and Other Respiratory Viruses. Mr Ricardo Jorge (INSA).
Since week 40 (October 2) of the start of the 2023/2023 season, hospitals in the integrated sentinel surveillance network have reported 26 hospitalizations for respiratory syncytial virus, with approximately 43% of these hospitalizations lasting less than By three months 43% of these occurred in premature or low birth weight infants, and 8% did not require ventilation or hospitalization in an intensive care unit.
Since October 2, we have also identified 11 cases of co-infection with influenza viruses and the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus that causes covid-19, and other respiratory pathogens in 2,222 cases.
During the week of November 13-19, 147 positive cases of influenza virus were detected, including 2 cases of type A and 4 cases of type B. Among the 41 cases, 2 cases of subtype A(H1)pdm09, 2 cases of subtype A(H1)pdm09, and 2 cases of subtype A(H1)pdm09 were found. Subtype A(H3).
During this period, other respiratory pathogens were identified in 594 cases, with INSA being the two most commonly detected picornaviruses and respiratory syncytial virus.
Information will be sent this week after three cases of influenza were reported in 13 intensive care units (ICUs), two of which have yet to be identified as influenza A virus subtypes.
The announcement mentioned, “As far as I know, two teachers are over 65 years old and are between 45 and 54 years old. All teachers have chronic diseases and are recommended to receive seasonal influenza vaccination.”
Since the beginning of this period, 6 influenza cases have been reported in the collaborative surveillance ICU, 5 of which were confirmed to be influenza A viruses.
The data shows that three teachers are between 55 and 64 years old, two teachers are over 65 years old, and one teacher is between 45 and 54 years old.Total number of cases, 5 cases are chronic cases, seasonal influenza vaccination is recommended, 2 cases have been vaccinated
The three hospitals that have sent information (children’s hospital and adult hospital) also reported four cases of influenza, three cases of influenza A virus that have not yet been typed, and one case of influenza virus that has not been typed as subtype A (H3) .
Both teachers are less than a year old, one is between 03 and 05 years old, and the other is between 35 and 44 years old. Judging from this week’s total number of cases, some patients developed chronic symptoms and were recommended and vaccinated against seasonal influenza.
