NBA star LeBron James was as surprised as most fans when he learned that Joel Embiid would be playing for Team USA at the 2024 Paris Olympics. After long deliberations, Embiid finally committed after news broke that he would become a U.S. citizen.
James spoke about his expectations for the Los Angeles Lakers this season in an interview when he was asked about his thoughts on Embiid’s commitment. Like many, he was surprised and excited to play alongside the reigning NBA MVP on an international stage.
“What happened? Is this awesome for us (Embiid committing)? It’s awesome. It’s a big moment,” James said.
When asked if he had anything to do with Embiid joining Team USA, he smiled and simply replied:
“I have no idea.”

Jared Vanderbilt was one of the Lakers’ most important role players last season. After bringing him in mid-season, the team’s defense improved and fans loved seeing his efforts on the defensive end.
Vando recently talked about LeBron James and how he’s still dominant after 20 seasons.
“He looks like he’s in good shape. Just the energy level, his activity,” Vanderbilt said. “He’s constantly changing at both ends of the court and it does look like he has a little more bounce and life in his step. We’re excited about it.” He can come back at 100 percent. Like I said, he’s still moving and looks like a freight train. “
The Lakers have big goals for the upcoming season. They want everyone to contribute to the title race.
LeBron will turn 39 in December, but he still displays talent and athleticism on the basketball court. Plus, he has a talented young team around him, which is exactly what he needs to win his fifth title.
