Israeli opposition leader Yair Lapid confirmed Thursday that it is difficult to eliminate Hamas.
In an interview with Al-Arabiya/Al-Hadath he also said that the issue of the two-state solution is very complex.
He continued: “We do not accept harming any innocent person in the West Bank.”
The tension increases
18 Palestinians were killed by Israeli army gunfire in the occupied West Bank today, Thursday, the Palestinian Health Ministry announced, noting that 14 of them died during an army military operation in the city of Jenin.
According to United Nations statistics, the military operation in Jenin is the one that caused the highest number of victims in the West Bank since 2005.
Since the start of the war between Israel and Hamas on October 7, following the movement’s unprecedented attack on southern Israel, tension has increased in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem and its Old City.
According to the Ministry of Health, around 180 Palestinians have been killed in the West Bank by Israeli soldiers or settlers.
