Tottenham Hotspur jumped to the top of the Premier League with a win over Luton Town on Saturday. Ange Postecoglou led his side to their sixth win of the season, with summer signing Micky van de Ven scoring a second-half goal at Kenilwah Kenilworth Road scored three points.

James Maddison continued his impressive creativity after scoring his summer signing’s first goal for the club. Maddison has scored two goals and five assists in eight Premier League games since joining Tottenham from relegated Leicester City for £40m.

Spurs remain unbeaten with their latest victory, which marks their best start to a league season since 1960/61 after eight games. Most admirably, they played the entire second half with ten men after Yves Bissouma was sent off just before half-time.

The 27-year-old was sent off after picking up a second yellow card for diving, and naturally, social media was abuzz. Jamie O’Hara took to Twitter to express his displeasure at Bissouma’s red card.

“Bissouma is so stupid, what was he thinking? He got what he deserved but it was so frustrating,” the pundit and former midfielder discussed Tottenham’s initial goalscoring struggles Wrote before.

“Having to seize the opportunity from the beginning and not trusting certain players. The other team will have more confidence now and it’s a massive battle.”

Of course, O’Hara was celebrating Van de Veen’s heroics moments later as Spurs moved above defending champions Manchester City to the top of the Premier League table.

Pep Guardiola’s side are now two points behind Tottenham after their shock defeat to Wolves last time out. They are keen to regain their position but face a daunting ask when they face last season’s title rivals Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.
