AD100 Jake Arnold’s talent is unstoppable. In recent years, the Los Angeles-based Brit has designed the homes of celebrities such as Chrissy Teigen and Katy Perry, co-founded video consultation platform The Expert and collaborated with brands such as Crate & Barrel, Lulu and Georgia. So it’s not surprising (though extremely impressive) that he’s just published his first book. New definition of comfortand has teamed up with Parachute for a second limited-edition collection of home essentials, launching today.
The 11-piece collection is a continuation of Jake Arnold’s first iteration for Parachute, the wildly popular line that debuted last year. “It was a natural evolution to work with Parachute again and develop best-selling books and things that really resonated and connected with people,” Jake shares. “It was a good opportunity to show my evolution: not only go dark and moody, but also have a softer palette.”
While an oversized alpaca bouclé throw looks great on a bed paired with a botanical-inspired lumbar pillowcase, Jake thinks it could serve another purpose. “You can wear boucle as a scarf,” he says. “Literally, I would wear this in New York because it’s so cozy and chic. It looks like Lenny Kravitz’s famous scarf.”Laura Mon
Subtle neutrals such as sage, olive, cream and almond dominate the collection, from velvet pillowcases to linen bed sheets and a botanical throw, borrowing a favorite print from the first collection. “Last time we had it on our robe and pillows and it was really popular, which was surprising because I don’t think Parachute had ever printed before,” Jake says. “We introduced it in a new color scheme and expanded it to a full cover to give the bed a more personal feel. People are less afraid of fingerprints now.”
Fans will be pleased to know that another of Jake’s best-sellers is the oversized alpaca bouclé blanket, which now features a clean, fringe-free edge and is available in two new colors. “What was so fun about working with products rather than creating spaces was seeing what worked, taking something more classic and timeless and just updating it,” he says.
Jake also included two pieces in the collection: a cozy, casual cardigan and shearling wool slides. He hopes these items will easily move from the couch to the store. “The cardigan jacket is super cozy, so you can wear it outdoors as well as while walking the dog or grocery shopping,” he explains. “Especially on lazy weekends, you just want to go for a walk and have a coffee and you don’t want to wear real clothes.”
