Guatemala City, September 22 (AGN) – Representatives of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) visited the National Reference Hospital for Respiratory Diseases in District 7 of the capital.
according to Ministry of Public Health and Social Assistance (MSPAS), the purpose of this visit was to make new donations. JICA seeks to strengthen existing relations between the governments of Guatemala and Japan.
At this event, JICA representative in Guatemala Ken Kubotura was also present, and visited the intensive care unit, laboratory and outpatient consultation area also created with the support of Japanese cooperation with the relevant departments of the hospital.

Support from Japan
The Health Portfolio mentioned the guidelines for 2021, when JICA proposed the creation of two critical care modules and the application of telemedicine to improve the quality of care for patients.
For this reason, Enrique Gordillo, the hospital’s administrative and financial manager, expressed his gratitude to JICA for its help.
This started with consultations and was later implemented with the establishment of intensive care units and the enhancement of telemedicine. The donation also includes industrial and medical equipment and renovations.
About the hospital
The hospital provides care for patients with conditions such as bronchitis, asthma, COPD and pneumonia. Therefore, it has dedicated personnel and equipment to assist in these types of situations.
This is the old San Vicente Hospital, located at 11 Avenue A 12-30, zone 7, La Verbena neighborhood. Care is provided to the public 24 hours a day.
